Melissa Saphir is a highly certified ballroom dance instructor who enjoys making dance easy for beginners, performing on stage with her students, competing with her friends in the same-sex dance community, and dancing Lindy Hop with her husband Bill.
Melissa taught the swing and smooth dance programs at the Metronome Ballroom, and later was an independent instructor at Cheryl Burke Dance San Francisco. She now teaches private lessons at the Metronome Dance Collective in San Francisco.
As a Master Teacher for the Ballroom Dance Teachers College (BDTC), Melissa has trained aspiring dance teachers since 2006. She co-authored BDTC in a Box (2008), a detailed curriculum for educating dance professionals that is used by studios nationwide and in Canada.
Melissa is also a Regional Examiner for Dance Vision, administering certification exams to dance professionals and medal tests to students.
